So, I went to AX 2009 and just now decided to look for any pictures of me on dA...there are two...and both thought I was a boy. XD Which is cool with me because I came dressed as a boy. But I guess the major thing that set it off was my voice, which is apparently lower than normal for women. That and my more masculine appearance. So anyway, Thought I'd tell a funny story. I was at Manga cafe and was reading something like "Jackfrost" or another more surreal manga, and my tablemates were all talking about their favorite types of manga. I mentioned I liked more actiony and adventury styles but also liked romance. So one of them (All girls might I add) asked if I liked yaoi. I don't, so I said no. She said something like "I didn't think so," and then I didn't really think anything of it, but when I said I read some shoujou series', one of the girls kinda flipped. She was like "Wow! I've never seen a boy who liked shoujou!" ...I then proceeded to inform her of my gender and the entire table gave me a priceless look. <XD It was really kinda funny, but they all felt terrible because apparently one of the girls was hitting on me. I think I'll stay away from cross dressing for costumes for a while...even though I dressed up as the phantom again for Halloween...Anyway, you can get away with that kind of stuff when you dress up, so no one was critical of me...I did however at the con get a GIGANTIC glomp by a play fan. And people were singing phantom of the opera songs whenever I walked by. ^^ Over all it was pretty fun, but I think I'll be going to fanime for the next con. Either that or Comic Con...and I'm dressing as a feminine super hero.


P.S. I used to get mistaken for a boy a lot when I was little...I was an ugly little child. <XD But that was before I found the joys of fashion, and now I am cured of the frumpy tom-boy look. I also got mistaken for a lesbian occasionally...that was always really weird cause I used to be really homophobic. But then I realized that people are entitled to their own opinions, and got on with my life. The worst situation of gender/sexuality confusion was definitely at this one band competition where I was talking to a tuba and trombonist from another band. I had my uniform on, so boobage wasn't really all that noticeable (Not to mention I was already lacking in that area) and the tuba player (Guy) was being really friendly to me. He seemed a little fruity, but I'm the last person to judge by looks. He just acted very poppy and not like almost every other guy I've ever met. He referred to me as a boy and one of my friends corrected him. After that he turned bright red and told me about how he was kind of hitting on me...so...50 points for me for being mistaken for a boy BY a homosexual boy...




Btw, it really doesn't bother me. I have enough self esteem to make it so I really don't care all that much what people think of me. ^^
